Once they believed they were finished, they attempted to flee in their vehicles.

As Mr. Hughes emerged to confront the pranksters, he tripped and fell into the street around 11:40 p.m. Tragically, he was struck by Mr. Wallace’s pickup truck during their hasty retreat. Wallace and the other teenagers stopped to provide assistance until emergency services arrived.
