Iowa vs nebraska set for Senior Day at Pinnacle Bank Arena

Nebraska’s final home game of the season will include pregame recognition for five seniors: Kendall Blue, Jared Garcia, Sam Hoiberg, Jamarques Lawrence and Rienk Mast. The Senior Day ceremony is slated to begin at approximately 4: 40 p. m. ET, with the game listed for shortly after 5: 00 p. m. ET in Lincoln.

The Huskers enter the game at 25-5 overall and 14-5 in the Big Ten. Nebraska is coming off a 72-52 loss at UCLA late Tuesday that snapped a three-game win streak. In that game, Sam Hoiberg scored 12 points as Nebraska shot 38%.

Iowa brings a 20-10 overall record and a 10-9 Big Ten mark into Sunday’s matchup. The Hawkeyes lost 71-68 to Michigan on Thursday night in Iowa City after erasing a 10-point second-half deficit and tying the game at 66-all with less than a minute remaining.

No. 9 Nebraska’s Big Ten seed scenarios entering Sunday

Nebraska begins the final weekend of the regular season tied for third in the Big Ten standings with Illinois entering Saturday’s action. The stakes on Sunday are clear: a Nebraska win would assure the Huskers of at least a third-place finish and the No. 3 seed in the Big Ten Tournament next week.

A different path remains possible even with a loss. Nebraska could still clinch a triple-bye in the conference tournament with a loss, but that outcome would require Wisconsin to win at Purdue on Saturday.

For Nebraska, Senior Day arrives with individual and team milestones in view. The program notes Nebraska has made 317 3-pointers this season, which is two shy of the school record of 319 set in 2023-24. Nebraska has hit 10 or more 3-pointers in 19 games this season.

Pryce Sandfort and Nebraska’s senior class lead the Iowa matchup

Nebraska’s Senior Day group includes Lawrence, Mast and Hoiberg, identified by the program as key contributors on Nebraska’s 2024 NCAA Tournament team and as significant pieces in a stretch that has helped Nebraska post three straight 20-win seasons for the first time in school history.

One of the featured individual notes entering Sunday centers on Pryce Sandfort. Nebraska lists Sandfort with three 30-point games this year, including a 32-point performance at USC on Feb. 28.

On Iowa’s side, Bennett Stirtz led the Hawkeyes in Thursday’s loss to Michigan with 21 points, four assists and three steals. Cam Manyawu added 14 points and eight rebounds in the same game.

Nebraska also highlights the scoring load carried by its top four scorers — Rienk Mast, Pryce Sandfort, Braden Frager and Jamarques Lawrence — who are combining for 53. 4 points per game. The program notes none of the four were in Nebraska’s lineup last season.
