Fans and guests in Melbourne will see expanded brand activations and motorsport outreach that directly affect visitors and aspiring young drivers, starting March 8, 2026, at 11: 00 p. m. ET when the Australian Grand Prix begins; audi f1 makes its Formula 1 debut after a series of on-track and city events this week.
Fans at Albert Park Circuit encounter Audi Revolut F1 Team activations
From the airport to the city center, visitors have encountered the four rings across Melbourne and at Albert Park Circuit, where the team’s AFLOAT bar on the Yarra River opened Thursday and remains a public meeting place during the Grand Prix weekend. The AFLOAT venue features show cars, live sessions for guests and a trackside viewing presence opposite the pit lane exit at the Audi Trackside Suite, giving fans direct access to team activity throughout the race weekend.
Audi F1 drivers Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto unveil the new Audi RS 5 at Albert Park
Nico Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto unveiled the new Audi RS 5 on Thursday evening at Albert Park Circuit, an event held just two weeks after the RS 5’s world premiere. The RS 5 is described as the first RS model with a hybrid drive, presented alongside the new generation of Formula 1 racing cars whose power output is almost 50 percent electric, a parallel the team highlighted during the unveiling.
Historic Audi R8 and Allan McNish link past victories to Audi’s F1 arrival
One historic attraction at the team’s Melbourne presence was the crocodile-themed Audi R8 from Audi Tradition, a car that won the “Race of a Thousand Years” in Adelaide on December 31, 2000. Allan McNish, one of the victorious drivers from that race and now responsible for the Audi Driver Development Programme, was behind the wheel in Melbourne, connecting Audi’s endurance and touring success to its new Formula 1 entry.
Still, the debut week has also been a public relations and community push: the team welcomed local stars and guests, including Australian surfer Stephanie Gilmore and chef Guillaume Brahimi, who is scheduled to cook for guests in the Audi Trackside Suite this weekend. Audi Australia hosted a networking lunch for “Girls on Track” ahead of the Grand Prix to mark International Women’s Day on Sunday, with several team members meeting participants and sharing professional contacts as part of the team’s support for the FIA initiative to promote motorsport careers for girls and young women.
That said, the week’s activities aimed to show the close connection between Audi’s sportiest road models and motorsport: a film screened the new Audi RS 5 driving around Albert Park while engineers in Mission Control monitored the run, underscoring the brand’s narrative of on- and off-track transformation.
Gernot Döllner, CEO of AUDI AG, framed the start of the team’s first Formula 1 season as the beginning of a new chapter, saying the project demonstrates what can be achieved when people work together and that the team faces challenges with courage—statements the company released as part of its Melbourne programming.
The Australian Grand Prix start on Sunday at 3 p. m. local time (5 a. m. CET) marks the on-track test of Audi’s entry; more details are expected at the race start, scheduled for 11: 00 p. m. ET on Saturday.
