Silva and Mitchell fought under MMA rules at UFC 314 in 2025, when Silva defeated Mitchell a second-round ninja choke. The new contest is scheduled under submission-only grappling rules, marking a different format for their second meeting.
The pairing was described as a reboot of “one of the stranger feuds in recent memory, ” a reference to the unusual pre-fight exchanges that surrounded their first matchup.
UFC 314 in 2025 remains the backdrop for the rematch booking
The first meeting between the two came with unusually personal rhetoric from Mitchell, who accused Silva of sending “legions of demons” to haunt his dreams.
