Stonehaven RNLI Women Highlighted for Iwd 2026 as Shore and Boat Crew

11: 00 a. m. ET — Stonehaven RNLI volunteers are being profiled as the lifeboat charity marks International Women’s Day in coverage for iwd 2026. The piece focuses on station qualifications and recent recruitment that together illustrate how the station’s shore and boat teams have evolved.

Stonehaven RNLI: Suzanne’s tractor and Launch Authority milestones

Suzanne has served on the Stonehaven RNLI shore crew for a number of years and completed shore crew competency training before choosing to take on additional responsibilities. She trained to be one of the station tractor drivers, passed the tractor driver competencies, and became the station’s first female tractor driver and the first in Scotland to pass out on the RNLI new competency framework. Suzanne then progressed to train and pass out as a Launch Authority, expanding her operational role at the station.

Iwd 2026 spotlight on Caroline’s Tier 1 progress and Poole training

Caroline joined the station after responding to a social media advert for a volunteer administrator and, through regular station meetings and active involvement, was encouraged to join operational crew. After completing her shore crew training, she continued into boat crew training, has passed out as Tier 1 crew and is working toward Tier 2 competencies. Last year she was selected to attend the Women in SAR Training Week at the RNLI’s facilities in Poole, an experience she described as an opportunity to train alongside other women in operational roles.

Stonehaven RNLI recruitment drive in spring 2025 brought Abbie and Chelsea

Relative newcomers Chelsea and Abbie responded to a volunteer crew recruitment drive by Stonehaven RNLI in spring 2025. The station’s volunteers noted that the crew draw from differing backgrounds — environmental consultancy, administration and healthcare — each bringing relevant skills and experience to shore and boat roles. Four women from the station shared their enthusiasm for volunteering and for helping people at sea as the lifeboat charity marks International Women’s Day.

No further station events or deadlines with a confirmed ET time are listed in the material provided; coverage tied to iwd 2026 centers on these qualifications, recruits and training experiences.
