Saudi Airlines Suspension Leaves Passengers Stranded Across Multiple Hubs
Passengers booked on saudi airlines and other carriers face continued grounding to six regional destinations, left without scheduled service through Sunday at 6: 59 p. m. ET after Saudia extended suspensions Friday affecting Amman, Kuwait City, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Doha.
Passengers at King Khalid International Airport hit by 21 cancellations
Travelers at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh experienced 21 cancelled flights and one delayed service today, directly disrupting itineraries across Asia, Europe and the Gulf. Qatar Airways recorded nine cancellations and IndiGo seven, while KLM had two cancelled departures; Air France and Air India each recorded one cancellation, and Saudia had one cancelled flight. Etihad Airways posted the single documented delay.
Saudi Airlines suspension extended to Amman, Kuwait City, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Doha
Saudia announced Friday that the suspension of flights to and from Amman, Kuwait City, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Doha and Bahrain would be extended until Sunday, March 8 at 23: 59 GMT (6: 59 p. m. ET). The airline said flights to and from Moscow and Peshawar will remain suspended until March 15. Saudia said it is assessing a gradual resumption of select services and advised that passengers should verify the status of their saudi airlines bookings before heading to the airport; travelers will continue to receive updates through the contact details associated with their reservations.
Qatar Airways and IndiGo disruptions ripple to Doha and India’s major airports
The cancellations at Riyadh heavily affected connections to major hubs. Qatar Airways’ nine cancellations most impacted links with Hamad International Airport in Doha, while IndiGo’s seven cancellations disrupted routes between Riyadh and India’s busiest airports, including Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai, Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru and Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad. European connections were also hit: KLM’s two cancellations affected Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Air France’s single cancellation touched Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport.
Still, the pattern shows the widest disruption on corridors between Riyadh and Doha and multiple routes connecting Saudi Arabia with India and Europe, leaving passengers with missed connections and altered travel plans across those regions.
If Saudia finalizes operational decisions and announces resumption, service could begin to restart after Sunday at 6: 59 p. m. ET.
