Sanremo Symphony Orchestra Launches Season with “Elegance of Classicism” Concert
The Sanremo Symphony Orchestra has announced the beginning of its classical music season with a concert titled “Elegance of Classicism.” This event will take place on March 6 at the Teatro Cinema Centrale in Sanremo, followed by another performance on March 7 at the Palazzo del Parco in Bordighera.
Concert Details
Conducted by Maestro Giancarlo De Lorenzo, the program features works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, highlighting the essence of Viennese classicism. The concert kicks off with Mozart’s Oboe Concerto in C major, K. 314, composed in 1777. This piece is renowned for its melodic charm and expressive timbre, showcasing the oboe’s versatility.
Featured Soloists
- Christoph Hartmann: A noted oboist and guest soloist, Hartmann has been the principal oboist of the Stuttgart Philharmonic since 1991 and joined the Berliner Philharmoniker in 1992.
- Luca Di Manso: Performing at the Bordighera concert, Di Manso is the first oboe of the Florence May Musical Theatre Orchestra.
Second Half Program
The latter part of the concert will feature Symphony No. 38 in D major, K. 504, known as “Praga.” This symphony, first performed in Prague in 1787, showcases Mozart’s mature style with its dramatic density and intricate structure. Notably, it departs from the conventional four-movement Viennese style, opting for a three-movement format that reflects Mozart’s creative independence.
Community Engagement Initiatives
The reopening of the classical season also marks the launch of the “Open Rehearsals – Music and Society” initiative. This program is designed to engage younger audiences and foster a meaningful connection between education and symphonic music.
- Target Audience: Primary and secondary school students
- Goals: To create direct dialogue between schools and the symphonic world
This concert series not only celebrates classical music but also emphasizes the importance of music education and community involvement, encouraging future generations to engage with the arts.
