Majority of Iranians Oppose U.S. Military Action, NPR Poll Reveals

The online, phone, and text survey, which included responses from 1,591 participants, revealed that 56% of respondents oppose military involvement, while only 44% support it. - Only 36% of participants approve of President Trump’s handling of Iran.
- A majority, 55%, believe Iran poses a minor or no threat to the U.S.

Men show nearly balanced opinions regarding military action, with 52% opposing and 48% supporting it. Conversely, women display stronger opposition at 59%. Racial demographics also play a role:
- 68% of Black respondents oppose military action.
- 60% of Latinos share this view, while approximately 52% of whites do.
Disapproval of Trump’s Iran Policy
Discontent with Trump’s approach to Iran is notable. The recent poll reports that:
- 54% disapprove of his handling of Iran, a decline from January 2020, when 49% expressed disapproval.
- 25% of voters aged 18-29 approve of Trump’s Iran policy, the lowest among age groups.
Threat Perception of Iran
The survey also assessed how Americans perceive the threat level posed by Iran:
- 55% view Iran as either a minor threat (40%) or no threat at all (15%).
- In contrast, 44% consider Iran a major threat.
- 70% of Republicans think Iran is a significant threat, while 75% of Democrats view it as minor or negligible.
