Colton Parayko’s Major Update Announced Friday Morning

Colton Parayko of the St. Louis Blues has made significant headlines in the National Hockey League (NHL) this week. On Thursday, he announced he would invoke his no-trade clause. This decision meant he would reject a proposed trade to the Buffalo Sabres.

Recent Developments in Parayko’s Trade Situation

The tentative deal with the Sabres was reached the previous night but fell through the next morning. TSN Insider Pierre LeBrun reported that Parayko would not waive his no-trade clause. “All indications are he stays in St. Louis for now,” LeBrun stated on TSN’s Trade Centre.

Parayko’s decision is clear. He does not plan to waive his no-trade clause for any other teams either. It appears he will remain with the Blues at least until the NHL trade deadline.

Contract Details

Colton Parayko is under a substantial eight-year contract, which has four years remaining. For the next two seasons, he holds a full no-trade clause. After these years, this clause will revert to a 15-team no-trade list.

Buffalo Sabres’ Response

In light of Parayko’s refusal to move, the Buffalo Sabres quickly altered their strategy. They acquired two defensemen to augment their lineup:

  • Logan Stanley, standing at 6’7″ from the Winnipeg Jets
  • Luke Schenn, measuring 6’2″

This proactive approach reflects the Sabres’ ongoing efforts to enhance their defensive presence following Parayko’s decision.
