Wild Trade for Bobby Brink, Send Jiricek to Flyers
The Minnesota Wild have bolstered their scoring depth just ahead of the NHL Trade Deadline. On deadline day, they acquired forward Bobby Brink from the Philadelphia Flyers. In return, the Flyers received defenseman David Jiricek in a one-for-one transaction.
Bobby Brink Joins the Minnesota Wild
Bobby Brink joins a Wild team aiming for a strong performance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. General Manager Bill Guerin has made significant moves this season. Notably, he traded for defenseman Quinn Hughes earlier in the year.
Brink brings important depth scoring abilities to the Wild. This season, he achieved a career-high total of 13 goals, along with 13 assists, contributing to 26 points in 55 games. He is currently tied for eighth in scoring on the Flyers.
Though his current performance is slightly below the 41 points he tallied last season, Brink remains a valuable asset. The 24-year-old is under the final year of a two-year contract signed in July 2024, carrying a cap hit of $1.5 million. After this season, he will become a restricted free agent with arbitration rights.

David Jiricek Traded to Philadelphia Flyers
David Jiricek, the player traded to the Flyers, was a highly touted prospect from Czechia. Selected sixth overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2022 NHL Draft, he faced challenges in maintaining a spot with the team. Eventually, he was moved to the Wild in November 2024.
The 22-year-old defenseman struggled to find his footing in the NHL. He has appeared in 25 games with Minnesota thus far without registering a point. However, he has shown potential in the American Hockey League, recording 10 points through two goals and eight assists.

Salary Cap Space Overview
As the trade deadline approaches, teams consider their salary cap situation. Currently, the Minnesota Wild have approximately $9.1 million in cap space available. Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Flyers hold nearly $33.6 million in cap space.
These moves reflect both teams’ strategies as they prepare for the postseason and aim to maximize their rosters for success.
