Epson Tour Inks Deal to Enhance Championship Prizes and Player Earnings
The Epson Tour is making significant strides in enhancing the financial rewards for its players. Recently, the tour announced a three-year extension with Epson America aimed at increasing championship prizes and player earnings.
Epson Tour Championship Prize Enhancements
Beginning this year, the Epson Tour Championship will see a substantial rise in its prize money. For the first time in its 46-year history, the event will offer a winner’s share of $100,000. This is part of a broader strategy to increase total purses, aiming for $250,000 by 2026 and reaching $350,000 by the end of the decade.
Upcoming Changes and Format
In 2024, the Epson Tour Championship will take place at the Indian Wells Golf Resort in California. Notably, the championship will feature a no-cut format and limit its field to 80 players, based on standings from the Epson Tour Race for the Card.
- 2024 Venue: Indian Wells Golf Resort, California
- Winner’s Share (2023): $100,000
- Total Purse (2026): $250,000
- Future Total Purse Goal: $350,000
Local Qualifying Rounds
This season, the Epson Tour introduced 18-hole Local Qualifying Rounds for its initial events. The Atlantic Beach Classic, the IOA Golf Classic, and the Orlando Health Championship will each see two qualifiers gain automatic entry into the main fields.
LPGA Commissioner Craig Kessler commented on Epson’s commitment, stating it represents a powerful investment in women’s golf and provides valuable opportunities for emerging athletes. The enhancements to player earnings and championship structure reflect a shared belief in fostering a robust pathway to the LPGA.
The 2026 Epson Tour season kicks off this week in Atlantic Beach, Florida. As the tour continues to evolve, these changes are pivotal for both players’ careers and the future of women’s professional golf.
