International Women's Day 2026: Metquarter panel, LIPA conversation and Liverpool march
Liverpool will mark international women's day 2026 with a run of events across the city, from a panel talk and film screening at Everyman Cinema to a college conversation with Cathy Tyson and a public march from St Luke’s Bombed Out Church. The programme collects panels, screenings, theatre and a march that organisers say are built around the Give to Gain theme.
International Women's Day 2026 at Metquarter and Everyman Cinema
On Thursday, March 5, The Guide Liverpool and Metquarter will host a panel discussion, audience Q&A and screening at Everyman Cinema, starting at 6pm. The evening, presented by Metquarter, Everyman Cinema and Girls With Dreams Club, will feature two inspirational mother-and-daughter duos and a screening of the feminist themed film Barbie. Tickets for the event include water and popcorn.
The panel will run for 30 minutes and include a Q& A section where guests can ask the panellists about their career journeys, the importance of women supporting other women, and how they are helping to inspire the next generation of girls. The panel and Q& A will be followed by the film screening. The session will be hosted by presenter Gemma Cutting.
Mother-and-daughter panellists from The Event Agency and Depth Training CIC
Two mother-and-daughter pairs will appear on the Metquarter panel. Liverpool-based event entrepreneurs Angela and Harriet Maguire are founders of The Event Agency and will speak about working together as a mother-daughter team in the events industry and how that dynamic has shaped their business journey.
Also on the panel are Pauline Fleming and Cornelia Nelson, co-founders of Depth Training CIC. Depth Training CIC is a Liverpool-based, family-led community interest company that uses performance and storytelling to transform communication across healthcare, education and public services. Pauline Fleming is a professional actor whose screen and stage career includes the role of Penny King in Coronation Street and she has spent nearly three decades delivering immersive medical roleplay and communication training nationwide. Cornelia Nelson brings expertise from the Higher Education sector in student skills development and career readiness; the pair combine creative practice with strategic insight to deliver actor-led training.
LIPA invites Cathy Tyson for a Paul McCartney Auditorium conversation
On Friday, March 6, LIPA and International Women’s Day present A Conversation with Cathy Tyson at the college’s Paul McCartney Auditorium. The event takes place at 7pm. Cathy Tyson said: “International Women’s Day is a Chance for me to celebrate and think about women around the world who are trailblazers. And a reflection of what is still needed to be achieved all over the world. ” Tickets are available for the event.
Liverpool Sisterhood march on March 8 and Unity Theatre production on March 13
Organisers have scheduled a public march for Sunday, March 8: the Liverpool Sisterhood will assemble at St Luke’s Bombed Out Church and set off at 2pm to mark International Women’s Day itself. Separately, Sort Sol Theatre is presenting Elizabeth Huskisson’s Where Have All Our Women Gone? at the Unity Theatre on Friday, March 13. The production is described as “fast paced and ferocious” and “darkly comic, ” billed as a state of the nation political commentary that interrogates the epidemic of male violence against women and girls. It is presented in partnership with the charity Everyone’s Invited and will be followed by a post-show Q& A.

Give to Gain theme and local organisers’ comments
The theme for the 2026 campaign is Give to Gain — framed as a call to help forge equality for women and girls and to free them from bias, stereotypes and discrimination through “abundant giving” of time, support and opportunity. Organisers’ message for the year is: “when women thrive, we all rise. ”
Jennina O’Neill, Centre Manager at Metquarter, said: “It is great to be able to work with Girls With Dreams Club to host this event within Everyman Cinema at Metquarter, giving aspiring female entrepreneurs the chance to speak with local women within the industry that have paved such successful careers. At Metquarter we champion all independent business owners and so are proud to be a part of this event in celebration of International Women’s Day. ”
Nicola Byrne, Co Founder at Girls With Dreams Club and Scouse Girl Social Events, said: “We are so excited to work with Metquarter and Everyman Cinema this International Women’s Day. At Girls With Dreams Club we champion women of all ages through our Scouse Girl Social events, celebrating cross-generational leadership and the power of women championing women across generations. This event will bring together mothers and daughters who work in business together for an open and honest discussion about their journeys, the lessons they’ve learned from one another, and how d” — the remainder of that remark is unclear in the provided context.
The calendar in Liverpool around international women's day 2026 therefore spans panel events, film and theatre, a college conversation and a public march, with organisers and community groups framing the week under the Give to Gain theme.
