First Actor Award Win and Nomination
This is her first Actor Award win and nomination: Madigan won the trophy for best female actor in a supporting role at the 2026 Actor Awards, the 32nd annual Actor Awards held at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles on Sunday night with Kristen Bell as the host.
Speech: Union, Chicago and Peers
Madigan, 75, who portrays Aunt Gladys in Zach Cregger’s original horror film Weapons, told the audience, “It’s such an honor to be here. I’ve been doing this a long ass time, and I have never been nominated by the SAG committee and by the [Screen Actors] Guild. ” She added, “I’m a proud member, and I keep getting asked tonight, ‘What is it about this night?’ I said, ‘Because actors love other actors. They just love being with them. We want to be working with them. '”
She continued, “I’m a union person. I come from Chicago. Everybody in my family, all my friends, relatives, we’re all union people, and I don’t care what somebody says, they’re not going to bust us. ”
Thanks to Cast and Crew
Madigan loudly praised the Weapons ensemble, shouting out Julia Garner, Josh Brolin, Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams, Cary Christopher, Benedict Wong, Toby Huss and all the “little kids who ran around with us and stunt people. ” She said, “All of the little kids who ran around with us. I did terrorize them, but I let them rip me apart, so it was OK. ”
Madigan also thanked director Zach Cregger and the casting team, saying, “I wasn’t expecting this, but it does really mean a lot to me from my peers. We had a lot of casting changes because of COVID and strikes and this and that, and I want to give a shout out to Allison Jones, who assembled all of us. ”
Joke About Trophy, Ken Doll Comparison
Picking up the Actor trophy, Madigan quipped, “Let’s see, what does he have here?” and then recalled a childhood image: “It was like when you were little, and you had the Barbie and then you got Ken, and you whipped down his drawers and you went, ‘Ken has nothing!’” She added, “I never understood that, ” and closed, “I really am digressing. I apologize. As you can tell, I’m nervous and I’m just overwhelmed and so happy. Thank you, everybody, so much. ”
