Igor Komarov missing in Bali as seven foreign nationals held and body fragments undergo DNA tests
igor komarov, a 28-year-old Ukrainian tourist, is at the center of an investigation in Bali after what police describe as an alleged kidnapping, arrests of seven foreign nationals and the discovery of mutilated human remains near the Wos River.
Igor Komarov seen in chilling ransom videos
Bali police named the missing man as Igor Komarov and said unverified footage circulating online appears to show a man believed to be him bruised and pleading for money. In one clip the man says, “We stole those $10 million they’re asking you for. Give them back those $10 million. Please. ” In another clip a man claiming to be Komarov admits involvement in a bank account “scamming” business. Police have not confirmed the authenticity of the videos and have said investigations remain ongoing.
Seven foreign nationals named as suspects
Bali Police confirmed the arrests of seven foreign nationals. Investigators initially detained a foreign national identified as CH, who allegedly attempted to flee using a false passport and had rented vehicles linked to the case. Senior Commissioner Ariasandy, a Bali police spokesperson, said that following further investigation officers named six other foreign nationals as suspects: RM, BK, AS, VN, SM and DH. All are men.
Fragments found at Ketewel Beach sent to RSUP Prof IGNG Ngoerah Hospital
Local residents found mutilated human body parts — listed as a head, a right leg, fragments of a rib cage, a thigh and part of internal organs — on February 26 at the mouth of the Wos River, at Ketewel Beach. The remains were transported to RSUP Prof IGNG Ngoerah Hospital in Denpasar for forensic examination. A February 27, 2026, 11: 04 a. m. update noted that DVI specialists, forensic services and a criminal laboratory had taken DNA samples from the fragments.
Forensics, tattoo and DNA match with mother planned
Bali police representative Kombes Ariasandi said investigators are checking whether the remains could belong to a Ukrainian citizen with the initials I. K. In cooperation with the Ukrainian consulate, a DNA sample will be taken from the mother of the missing Ukrainian I. K. for further matching. Ariasandi cautioned that it is currently not possible to confirm the remains belong to I. K. and said, “We must act solely on the basis of scientific investigation, the results of forensic examination, and other evidence. ”
Forensic teams found a tattoo in the form of a clock with Roman numerals on one of the hand fragments. Experts also said that due to significant decomposition they cannot yet determine the sex of the deceased. A preliminary forensic assessment put the time of death at more than three days before discovery. Investigators continue to examine the scene for other possible fragments.
Vehicles, villa in Tabanan and a witness who escaped
Investigators traced vehicles seen in CCTV footage to a villa in Tabanan regency, which they believe is where a ransom video was recorded. Forensic teams reportedly found bloodstains at the property and inside one of the rented vehicles. Police said Komarov had been holidaying in Bali with his girlfriend, Ukrainian lifestyle influencer Yeva Mishalova, 25, and a friend; the friend reportedly escaped and alerted authorities. Police have not confirmed whether the tourist is alive.
The Indonesian police are continuing the investigation into the alleged kidnapping and the possible links among the arrests, the ransom footage demanding $10 million, and the human remains. For now, DNA testing and forensic work at RSUP Prof IGNG Ngoerah Hospital and further laboratory results will guide next steps.
The police investigation and forensic examinations are ongoing; authorities have said they will complete scientific tests before drawing conclusions and will continue recovery and laboratory work as the next confirmed steps.
