Igor Komarov: igor komarov missing in Bali amid arrests and body fragments found
igor komarov, a 28-year-old Ukrainian tourist, has gone missing in Bali after what authorities describe as an alleged kidnapping. Bali police have detained seven foreign nationals as suspects while investigators probe a suspected ransom plot and the discovery of mutilated human remains on the island.
Who is Igor Komarov
The missing man has been identified as Igor Komarov, a 28-year-old Ukrainian national who was holidaying in Bali at the time of the alleged abduction. He was reportedly travelling with his girlfriend, Ukrainian lifestyle influencer Yeva Mishalova, 25, and a friend when the incident occurred. His friend reportedly managed to escape and alert authorities. Police have not confirmed whether the tourist is alive.
Arrests and suspects named
Bali Police confirmed arrests as investigators probed a suspected ransom plot and disturbing videos circulating online. Senior Commissioner Ariasandy said officers first detained a foreign national with the initials CH, who allegedly attempted to flee using a false passport and had rented vehicles linked to the case. "Initially, we secured one foreign national with the initials CH, who rented vehicles using a false passport, " Ariasandy said in Denpasar. Following further investigation, authorities named six other foreign nationals as suspects: RM, BK, AS, VN, SM and DH. All are men.
Villa, CCTV and bloodstains
Investigators traced vehicles seen in CCTV footage to a villa in Tabanan regency, where they believe a ransom video was recorded. Forensic teams found bloodstains at the property and inside one of the rented vehicles, prompting further forensic and criminal-laboratory work as police continue their inquiry.
Body fragments at Ketewel Beach
Mutilated human body parts were discovered near the Wos River estuary and at Ketewel Beach. Local residents found a head, a right leg, fragments of a rib cage, a thigh, and part of internal organs on February 26 at the mouth of the Wos River. All remains were transported to RSUP Prof IGNG Ngoerah Hospital in Denpasar for forensic examination.
Forensics and DNA checks
On February 27, 2026, at 11: 04 AM, authorities conducting DNA testing were handling the remains; the item carried 16, 621 views in a public bulletin. Bali police representative Kombes Ariasandi said DVI specialists, forensic services, and a criminal laboratory took DNA samples from the body fragments. In parallel, and in cooperation with the Ukrainian consulate, a DNA sample will be taken from the mother of the missing Ukrainian identified as IK for further matching.
Ariasandi cautioned that it is currently not possible to confirm that the found remains belong to IK and said investigators "must act solely on the basis of scientific investigation, the results of forensic examination, and other evidence. " During the initial forensic examination, a tattoo in the form of a clock with Roman numerals was found on one of the hand fragments. Due to the significant degree of decomposition, experts cannot even determine the sex of the deceased yet. A preliminary assessment by a forensic expert suggested death could have occurred more than three days ago. Law enforcement officers continue to examine the scene in search of other possible fragments.
Ransom videos and disputed footage
Unverified footage circulating online appears to show a man believed to be Komarov bruised and pleading for money. In one clip the man says: "We stole those $10 million they’re asking you for. Give them back those $10 million. Please. " He also states, "I’ll give everything back to everyone we stole from, I’ll give everything back to everyone. " Another unverified video shows a man claiming to be Komarov admitting involvement in a bank account "scamming" business. Police have not confirmed the authenticity of the videos and say investigations remain ongoing. Authorities continue to examine possible links between the alleged kidnapping, the ransom footage and the human remains discovered on the island. Indonesian police are investigating the alleged kidnapping of Ukrainian Ihor Komarov; in the videos the man asks relatives to pay a ransom of 10 million dollars.
