- Classic burger patty remains unchanged
A Brief History of the Whopper
The Whopper was introduced in 1957 by Burger King co-founders James McLamore and David Edgerton. The idea came while McLamore was on a trip back from Miami, where he spotted a restaurant serving a popular large hamburger. He later created a similar large burger for Burger King’s Miami locations.
At that time, the original Whopper sold for just 37 cents, equivalent to around $4.36 today.
Investment Impact
Reports indicate that the enhancements will cost franchisees approximately $4,000 annually.
This update marks a strategic step for Burger King, aiming to maintain the relevance of its timeless offerings while responding to consumer preferences.
