Pink Denies Separation, pink Says ‘Don’t Believe the Hype’

pink posted an Instagram video on Feb. 26 pushing back against reports that she and husband Carey Hart had separated, writing in the caption, “Like I always say. If you don’t hear it from me, don’t believe the hype. Stay tuned though! Who knows what could happen next!?!” In the selfie clip, which contains strong language, she directly challenged the outlets that published the separation stories.

Pink’s Instagram rebuttal

In the selfie video, the “Cover Me in Sunshine” singer said, “So, I was just alerted to the fact that I’m separated from my husband. I didn’t know, ” naming the publications and jokingly thanking them for “letting me know. ” She told viewers she was surprised that the coverage apparently reached others before it reached her family.

Children unaware of report

Pink asked rhetorically whether the same outlets planned to inform her children, noting, “my 14-year-old and 9-year-old are also unaware. ” She named her two children in the clip: daughter Willow, 14, and son Jameson, 9.

Topics she said deserve coverage

Rather than dwell on the alleged split, Pink suggested there were more important items to discuss, listing the Epstein files, systemic racism and misogyny in sports among potential topics. She also praised “how classy the women’s hockey team is, ” and highlighted that “eight of the 12 medals won in the Olympics this year for the US were won by women. ”

Career milestones and criticism

Pink asked whether conversation might instead focus on her accomplishments, noting she was nominated “the first year I was eligible for the Rock and Roll m------------ Hall of Fame. ” She challenged the focus on her supposed demise rather than her career.

‘Fake news’ and final message

She labeled the separation reports “fake news, not true, ” told her followers she loves them and said “go with God. ” She closed the message by telling what she called “trash news” to “do better. ”

Marriage history and timeline

Pink and the former motocross racer Carey Hart have been married for 20 years. They first met in 2001 at the X Games and were married in 2006. The couple has broken up before: once in 2003, which preceded their engagement two years later, and again in 2008; they got back together a year later.

Reconciliation story

Reflecting on reconciling, Pink said in a February 2013 interview, “People are always like, ‘Why did you get back together?’ Well, we weren’t done. ” She has described a specific moment: 11 months after a breakup, Hart invited her to perform at his Las Vegas club on New Year’s Eve. She gave him a photo album that included cards he had given her; on the last page she pasted a photo of herself from a bad movie with her neck slit and blood everywhere and wrote, “This is me without you. ” On the following page she put a picture of a baby and wrote, “The rest is unwritten. ” Behind that page she placed divorce papers they never signed, and said she was like, “The rest is up to you. ”

Comments on songs and monogamy

Pink has also linked music to moments in their relationship, saying in October 2023 that her song “So What” was part of what got them together. She has spoken candidly about marriage over the years, telling another interviewer in 2019, “Monogamy is work! But you do the work and it’s good again. ”

Liz Calvario, a Los Angeles–based reporter and editor who covers entertainment, pop culture and trending news, wrote the original coverage of Pink’s Instagram denial.

Closing: Pink’s direct Instagram video on Feb. 26 pushed back on separation claims, reiterated that the reports are untrue and asked the public and media to focus on other issues while noting the couple’s long and sometimes interrupted history together.
