Metallica will stage an eight-show "Life Burns Faster" residency at Sphere in Las Vegas in October 2026, the band announced. The metallica sphere engagement is scheduled for Oct. 1, 3, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29 and 31, 2026 and will pair the band’s live staples and surprises with Sphere’s immersive technologies while continuing the No Repeat Weekend format.
Metallica Sphere Dates and Format
The eight-show run is set for Oct. 1, 3, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29 and 31, 2026. The residency will continue the No Repeat Weekend approach the band introduced during the 2023 launch of its M72 World Tour: no songs will be repeated on each Thursday and Saturday pairing throughout the course of the run. The calendar allows expansion into December should demand merit that addition; earlier coverage in January said October and December were planned and that the deal was signed months earlier.
No Repeat Weekend Policy
Metallica will apply the same No Repeat Weekend format used at the M72 World Tour kickoff in 2023, meaning Thursday–Saturday pairings across the residency will not repeat songs. Two-night No Repeat Weekend packages and single-night tickets are part of the on-sale plan.
Presales, Codes and Timing
SiriusXM listeners will have access to a special presale starting Thursday, March 5 at 10 a. m. PT and running through Thursday, March 5 at 10 p. m. PT using the code SIRIUSXM. Production and Immersive Technology
The residency will feature live staples and surprises from Metallica’s catalog enhanced by Sphere’s immersive technologies. The venue’s production elements cited include the world’s highest resolution LED display that wraps up, over and around the audience; Sphere Immersive Sound, which is described as delivering audio with clarity and precision to every guest; and multi-sensory 4D technology to present a unique Metallica experience for attendees and for band members James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo. The engagement is produced by Live Nation and presented by inKind. inKind is described as a rewards app that grants special offers and credit back when diners use the app at thousands of restaurants nationwide, and as a company that provides financing to participating restaurants to enable sustainability and success.
Band Activity and Tour Schedule
The classic Metallica lineup of James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo closes the M72 world tour on July 5 in London, leaving time to build the Sphere production. The band also made an unbilled, attempted covert appearance at Sphere for the Eagles show on Jan. 30; that visit served as both attendance and a scouting mission. The production timing would coincide with the 40th anniversary of Master of Puppets, the band’s first gold album. Metallica is noted as the first heavy metal band to play Sphere and was also the first metal band to play Allegiant Stadium in February 2022.
Comment From Lars Ulrich
Metallica co-founder and drummer Lars Ulrich said the idea took hold early: “About 12 seconds into the opening night of Sphere with U2 back in ’23, I thought ‘We have to do this, it’s completely uncharted territory!’ This residency gives us another chance to reinvent how we interact with our fans in a live setting. We are beyond excited to share this with the world in six months time, and way fuckin’ psyched to go next level!”
Additional Programming and Contact Points
A new monthly live call-in show, Tallica Talk, is tied to the announcement; it is hosted by Spider Dan and Steffan Chirazi. The Tallica Talk premiere focused on the Sphere announcement on Wednesday, February 25 from 4–5 p. m. PT / 7–8 p. m. ET, and listeners were invited to call 844-TALLICA to share stories.
