Where Bridgerton Season 4 Part 1 Left Off
At the end of Part 1, the central story between Benedict and Sophie reached a tense, emotional cliffhanger. Across the first four episodes, Benedict had been haunted by the memory of the mysterious Lady in Silver he glimpsed at Lady Violet's masquerade ball — not realizing that she and Sophie, the woman steadily winning his affection, are the same person.
In the dramatic Part 1 finale, Benedict finally confessed his attraction to Sophie while in the midst of a heated, intimate moment on the staircase — and proposed she become his mistress. Sophie, rightly insulted, walked away. The ton held its breath.
What to Expect in Bridgerton Season 4 Part 2
Part 2 will pick up exactly where Episode 4 left off, with Benedict asking Sophie to be his mistress, Michaela Stirling arriving from Scotland, and Violet Bridgerton having her garden tended to. Julia Quinn — author of the novel series the show is based on — has teased that a devastating death is also coming in the final four episodes.
Meanwhile, Michaela's arrival will shake up the Stirling family dynamic as Francesca grapples with her complicated feelings for her. Violet and Lord Marcus, who are happier than ever, will continue their relationship in secret. Anthony and Kate also make a long-awaited return from India with their son Edmund.
Benedict and Sophie: A Bridgerton Love Story Rooted in Class Divide
In the first episode of Season 4, Benedict met his captivating romantic interest at his mother Violet's masquerade ball. This introduction set Benedict off on a search through the ton for his Lady in Silver — but he was looking in the wrong place. His mystery lady was Sophie, a hardworking maid who came back into his orbit in a most unexpected moment.
Their romance is not particularly ideal — the mistress conflict in Part 1 makes that clear. There's also the lingering mystery of the Lady in Silver and the looming danger and scandal Araminta is bringing to the neighborhood. Showrunner Jess Brownell has described Benedict as a man who lives in a fantasy world, making Sophie's grounded perspective all the more essential to the season's emotional core.
Bridgerton Seasons 5 and 6 Already Confirmed — Eloise and Francesca Are Next
The show was renewed for Seasons 5 and 6 in May 2025. Showrunner Jess Brownell has already discreetly revealed the next leads, wearing a mauve suit with white pocket squares embroidered with the letters "E" and "F" at the Season 4 red carpet premiere in Paris on January 14.
Brownell confirmed that both characters whose initials appear on her pocket squares will each receive their own solo season, and vowed that the show will never combine siblings into a single season. That means Eloise and Francesca Bridgerton are each heading toward their own spotlight — keeping the beloved Netflix series alive well into the decade.
