Bill Gates Admits Past Affairs, Apologizes in Town Hall: Report
Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft, recently addressed his past connections to Jeffrey Epstein in a town hall meeting. Gates apologized to his staff at the Gates Foundation for his association with the convicted sex offender and admitted to having two past affairs with Russian women. The discussion occurred on February 24 and followed the release of extensive Epstein-related documents by the U.S. Department of Justice.
Bill Gates’ Past Affairs and Apology
During the town hall meeting, Gates confessed that he had two relationships with Russian women, a bridge player and a nuclear physicist. He clarified that these affairs were not linked to any of Epstein’s victims. Despite acknowledging these past relationships, Gates insisted, “I did nothing illicit. I saw nothing illicit.”
Connections to Jeffrey Epstein
Gates met Epstein in 2011, a few years after Epstein pled guilty to soliciting a minor for prostitution in 2008. He admitted to being aware of Epstein’s legal issues but did not thoroughly investigate his background. Concerns were raised by Gates’ former wife, Melinda French Gates, about his continuing relationship with Epstein, which persisted until at least 2014.
Fallout from the Epstein Files
This apology comes in the wake of the release of nearly 3.5 million pages of documents related to Epstein. These files mentioned various public figures, including Gates. In one document, Epstein seemed to claim that Gates sought medication for sexually transmitted diseases linked to his relationships with women.
Impact on the Gates Foundation
Gates acknowledged that his involvement with Epstein has negatively affected the reputation of the Gates Foundation. He called his decision to associate with Epstein a significant error, stating, “It was a huge mistake to spend time with Epstein.” Gates expressed regret for the staff members who were indirectly impacted by his actions.
He concluded by reiterating the foundation’s commitment to its values and emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive reputation in its work. “Our work is very reputational sensitive,” Gates noted during his remarks.
