Baby Keem links with Kendrick Lamar on “Good Flirts”
“Good Flirts” appears on Ca$ino and plays out like a flirtatious message to an ex set over a downtempo beat, with Keem, Momo Boyd, and Kendrick Lamar trading restrained, sultry lines. The song follows a history of collaborations between the two cousins that includes “The Hillbillies, ” “Vent, ” “Range Brothers, ” and the Grammy-winning “Family Ties. ”
A vivid verse and a soft-rock cameo
Kendrick Lamar’s verse on “Good Flirts” finds him in intimate, concrete moments—hanging on a couch watching Sinners, worshipping his girl’s booty, and even wondering if God might be a woman—bringing a conversational, image-rich cameo to the track. Momo Boyd, of the New York soft-rock outfit Infinity Song, supplies additional vocals that blend with Keem’s cool delivery and the record’s low-riding keys.
Ca$ino’s scope and what it reveals
Ca$ino is Keem’s second studio album, following 2021’s The Melodic Blue, and the largest tracklist features guest appearances from Too $hort and Che Ecru. The record mixes vulnerable material—touching on family loss and personal struggles—with moments of swagger and sonic variety, sampling influences that range widely across genres. “Good Flirts” sits on the album as one of the more sultry, chill entries, noted for its restraint and cool production.
Keem and Lamar’s collaboration extends beyond the music: Lamar co-produced a series of documentary shorts released during Ca$ino’s rollout and appeared on camera in interviews, where he discussed watching Keem develop. Lamar recalled that when Keem first sent him beats he recognized Keem’s musical instincts, and that he was surprised and impressed when Keem began rapping, saying Keem understood melodies and patterns in an unusual way.
Keem will support Ca$ino with an extensive tour that will take him across the States, Canada, Europe, and the UK between April and September, giving fans multiple opportunities to hear “Good Flirts” and other new tracks live.
