Former footballer Paddy Lacey charged with attempted murder after Huyton shooting

The shooting left the victim in a critical condition after he was shot in the leg at about 22: 20 GMT (5: 20 p. m. ET) on Friday 28 November on a driveway on Radway Road, Huyton. Four people — Patrick Lacey, 32; John Jones, 35; John Hughes, 31; and Bernard Flynn, 61 — have been charged with attempted murder and a string of related offences.

Charges and immediate details

All four have been charged with attempted murder, conspiracy to murder, possession of a shotgun and ammunition with intent to endanger life, section 18 grievous bodily harm and conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm. Police carried out a number of warrants on Thursday and arrested four people across Knowsley, Sefton and Liverpool before charging them.

Detective Inspector Chris Clark said, "These coordinated warrants were carried out as part of an ongoing investigation, and all four men will appear in court today. " Police say the victim was shot on the driveway and was taken to hospital in a critical condition after being shot in the leg; one report states he was shot twice by two men on a Sur-ron bike.
