Azerbaijan’s Non-Oil Exports to Central Asia Rise by 5%
Azerbaijan has reported a significant increase in its non-oil and gas exports to Central Asia, with a rise of over 5% in 2025 compared to the previous year. This data was presented by Nijat Hajizada, Head of Department at the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC), during the international conference “C6: One Region, Shared Future – Enhancing Strategic Dialogue,” held in Baku.
Growth in Trade and Investment
The growth in non-oil exports is part of a broader trend of increasing trade and investment between Azerbaijan and Central Asian nations. According to Hajizada, last year saw Azerbaijan’s total trade turnover with these countries soar by 53%, amounting to approximately $1.8 billion. The majority of this trade involved imports from Central Asia, with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan being the primary destinations for Azerbaijani exports.
Investment Trends
Azerbaijan has also experienced a notable increase in direct investments from Central Asian countries. In the first nine months of 2025, investments surged, particularly from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, which saw a year-on-year increase of 2.6 times. These investments reached a total of $30.2 million.
- Total trade turnover with Central Asia: $1.8 billion (2024)
- Increase in non-oil and gas exports: Over 5% (2025)
- Growth in foreign direct investment (FDI): 2.6 times from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan
- Total investment in Azerbaijan: $30.2 million
- Azerbaijan’s investment in Central Asia: $41.7 million
This positive trend not only reflects Azerbaijan’s growing role in the economic dynamics of the region but also highlights its potential as a hub for trade and investment in Central Asia.
