Franchise Highlights and Challenges

Assassin’s Creed Shadows had a robust launch last year, with over 5 million players reported by July 2023. Players engaged in 2 billion stealth kills and petted 38 million animals. Following the release of the Switch 2 version, these numbers have likely increased.

However, the franchise faced challenges as well. In October, Marc-Alexis Côté, the then-leader of Assassin’s Creed, departed from Ubisoft following a strategic restructuring. Reports confirmed that he was asked to step down and is currently in a legal dispute with the company.

Netflix Adaptation Progress

In franchise news, the long-anticipated Netflix adaptation of Assassin’s Creed is gaining momentum. Starring Toby Wallace, the series is set to feature him in a co-lead role.
