New Plant Development in Sioux Falls

The new facility will be located on a 200-acre site in northwest Sioux Falls. This strategic move comes after CEO Shane Smith acknowledged the limitations of renovating the existing plant, prompting a decisive shift towards constructing a modern facility from the ground up.

Future Possibilities

Gov. Larry Rhoden hailed the Smithfield investment as the largest business commitment in South Dakota’s history. He pointed out the necessity of moving the company forward and expressed excitement about the economic prospects for the region.

This project will not only ensure Smithfield’s continued presence in Sioux Falls but also promises to double the size of downtown, creating a significant long-term benefit for the community.

As this ambitious project unfolds, it stands as a testament to Smithfield’s commitment to innovation, community development, and economic growth in South Dakota.
