Solid Snake Enhances Rainbow Six Siege in Operation Silent Hunt
The iconic character Solid Snake from the Metal Gear Solid series is making his debut in Rainbow Six Siege as a permanent Operator. This integration occurs with the launch of Operation Silent Hunt on March 3.
Solid Snake’s Unique Abilities
Solid Snake is equipped with the Soliton Radar MKIII. This gadget allows him to detect enemies and gather intel about Defender positions. Additionally, he utilizes an On-Site Procurement (OSP) ability that adds to his versatility on the battlefield.
Soliton Radar MKIII: An Overview
The Soliton Radar MKIII provides insight into the immediate environment. It displays the floor plan and the location of enemies. It works in three alert modes:
- Green: All Clear
- Yellow: An active CCTV camera is present
- Red: Enemies detected in the area
In precision mode, the radar gives detailed intel, including enemy positions and vision cones. However, it has a cooldown period and a limited number of uses.
Strategies to Combat Solid Snake
Defenders can counter Solid Snake’s radar. They receive alerts when detected, giving them chances to reposition. For example:
- Alibi’s Prisma holograms can mislead Snake by appearing as other Operators.
- Vigil’s Electronic Rendering Cloak keeps him hidden from detection.
- Mute’s electronic jammers disrupt Snake’s radar capabilities.
Additionally, any defending Operator with their own camera gadget will remain hidden from Snake’s radar.
On-Site Procurement (OSP) Ability
Solid Snake’s OSP ability enhances his adaptability. He can acquire up to five different secondary gadgets during gameplay, including:
- Frag Grenades
- Stun Grenades
- Smoke Grenades
- Impact EMPs
- Breach Charges
Snake starts with only one item and must scavenge from downed enemies to fill his gadget inventory, allowing him to remain unpredictable.
Weapon Loadout
Solid Snake has access to two primary weapons:
- PMR90A2 designated marksman rifle
- F2 assault rifle
The F2 will receive buffs in Operation Silent Hunt, allowing for grip attachments. Snake also carries the TACIT .45 pistol, inspired by the stealth elements of his original series.
Upcoming Event and Collaboration
A limited-time event will follow Operation Silent Hunt’s launch. In this new gameplay mode, Snake teams up with Zero (Sam Fisher) for a 4v4 infiltration challenge. This event includes cosmetic outfits themed after classic Metal Gear Solid characters.
Operation Silent Hunt Updates
Operation Silent Hunt will modernize three maps: Villa, Coastline, and Oregon. It will also announce balancing changes for several Operators. For example:
- Skopós will become a 3-speed Operator.
- Ela’s Grzmot mines will have increased concussion duration.
- Flores can now equip the T-95 LSW LMG.
Rainbow Six Siege continues to be available on Ubisoft+, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC through various digital stores.
