Supporting Local Communities
The LINK initiative was established to address concerns over the impact of bank closures, particularly on vulnerable customers. In response to these closures, banking hubs and free ATMs are being introduced to maintain cash access for local communities.
Gareth Oakley, CEO at Cash Access UK, noted that banking hubs have successfully supported communities by providing essential services. To date, 212 banking hubs have been established, allowing customers to conduct everyday banking transactions.
As banking continues to evolve, the essential nature of cash and face-to-face services remains a priority for many customers in Wales and across the UK.
