Raiders Appoint Mike McCoy as Assistant Head Coach

The Las Vegas Raiders have officially appointed Mike McCoy as their new Assistant Head Coach. This significant move adds considerable experience to the Raiders’ coaching staff.

Experience in NFL Coaching

Mike McCoy arrives with 23 years of coaching expertise in the NFL. His history includes a successful tenure as the head coach of the San Diego Chargers from 2013 to 2016. During this period, he demonstrated the ability to lead teams effectively.

Previous Coaching Roles

  • Offensive Coordinator for the Denver Broncos (2009-2012, 2017)
  • Offensive Coordinator for the Arizona Cardinals (2018)
  • Nine seasons on the offensive staff of the Carolina Panthers (2000-2008)

As an offensive coordinator and head coach, McCoy’s offenses ranked in the top 10 on three occasions. His teams also featured top-10 passing attacks for six seasons, showcasing his capacity to develop potent offensive strategies.

Recent Position with the Titans

Before joining the Raiders, McCoy was with the Tennessee Titans. He held the position of Senior Offensive Assistant and was temporarily promoted to interim head coach for the final 11 games of the 2025 season.

During this period, McCoy worked closely with rookie quarterback Cam Ward. Under McCoy’s guidance, Ward set a franchise record by completing 323 of 540 passes for a remarkable 3,169 yards, along with 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
