Fowler and Kakhonen Ready to Return to Play

Both goaltenders for the Laval Rocket, Jacob Fowler and Kaapo Kahkonen, are set to return to action after overcoming their respective injuries. They are expected to participate in games this Friday and Saturday, despite the recent recall of goaltender Hunter Jones from the Trois-Rivières Lions.

Fowler and Kahkonen’s Injury Updates

Coach Pascal Vincent addressed the team’s preparation during Thursday’s training session. He expressed uncertainty about whether Fowler and Kahkonen would complete practice, prompting the need for an additional goaltender.

Fowler has been recovering from an upper-body injury, which also caused him to miss the American Hockey League (AHL) skills competition and the All-Star game this week. Kahkonen, who suffered a similar injury, has not played since January 21, when the Rocket lost to the Abbotsford Canucks.

Recent Performance and Statistics

  • Jacob Fowler: Played in seven games post-injury, suffering only one defeat.
  • Kaapo Kahkonen: Injured since January 21; last played in a 2-1 loss.
  • Hunter Jones: Joined the team on January 30 to support Fowler.

Coach Vincent confirmed that all players who have faced injuries in recent weeks will be available for the upcoming weekend games. The Rocket will face the Hershey Bears on Friday evening, followed by a Saturday afternoon matchup against the Toronto Marlies. Currently, Laval leads the North Division standings with an impressive record of 29 wins, 14 losses, two overtime losses, and two shootout losses.
