FG Showcases Nigeria-Assembled Cars in National Motor Rally

The Federal Government of Nigeria is enhancing its commitment to promote locally assembled vehicles through a significant event, the 61st Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival. This year, the event features a national motor rally aimed at showcasing the country’s automotive industry’s capabilities.

During the launch ceremony in Abuja, Jumoke Oduwole, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, emphasized that the motor rally aligns with the “Nigeria First” policy. This initiative encourages citizens and institutions to support locally made products. Oduwole pointed out that all vehicles participating in the rally were assembled in Nigeria.

Route of the Rally

The motor rally will cover diverse routes, including:

  • Abuja to Kaduna
  • Kano to Sokoto
  • Sokoto to Birnin Kebbi
  • Final destination: Argungu, Kebbi State

This extensive journey is designed to illustrate the technological advancements and durability of Nigeria’s assembled vehicles, showcasing the growth of the domestic automotive industry.

Government Support for Local Industry

Oduwole reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to collaborate with various agencies to promote locally made products. She also praised the integration of the motor rally into the internationally recognized Argungu Festival, a UNESCO-recognized cultural heritage event. Oduwole expressed hope that future festivals would have an even greater impact.

Abubakar Bagudu, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the rally as a testament to Nigeria’s resilience. He noted the event reflects confidence in the nation’s improving security and economic prospects, crediting private sector involvement as a sign of growing trust in government initiatives.

Joseph Osanipin, Director-General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), described the event as a fusion of culture, innovation, and technology.
