Sizzler’s Iconic Cheese Toast Returns to Sydney After Six Years
Sizzler, the iconic casual dining chain known for its all-you-can-eat salad bars and signature cheese toast, is set to make a notable return to Sydney after a six-year hiatus. The restaurant brand, which has its roots in the United States since 1958, will resurface thanks to the Minor Hotel group. This revival comes as Sizzler aims to reignite its popularity in the Australian market.
Sizzler’s Comeback in Sydney
The new Sizzler location will be housed within the Minor group’s NH Hotel, located at Sydney Airport. This opening marks the first Sizzler establishment in Australia since all nine locations closed in November 2020, largely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Future Expansion Plans
Bill Heinecke, founder and chairman of Minor, confirmed the brand’s anticipated return while in Sydney. He mentioned the company’s plans to expand Sizzler across Australia, emphasizing that the restaurant will cater to both hotel guests and the general public.
About Minor Hotels
- Minor operates over 640 hotels and resorts across 59 countries.
- The company’s Minor Food division previously included Sizzler’s famous cheese toast through its Coffee Club establishment.
- Expansions also include plans for bringing back Benihana Japanese restaurants.
Hospitality Development in Australia
Alongside Sizzler’s revival, there are exciting developments in the Australian hospitality sector. The opening of the 90-room NH Collection hotel at 102-106 Robey Street, Mascot, complements other projects like the Avani in Wollongong.
As the hotel sector sees a rebound, significant investments are underway. For instance, Emirates airline has allocated $50 million to upgrade its Wolgan Valley resort in New South Wales, now managed by Marriott International.
With Sizzler’s launch and ongoing hotel developments, Sydney’s dining landscape is poised for rejuvenation, attracting both locals and tourists alike.
