Top-Ranked UConn Set to Battle Creighton on Wednesday
On Wednesday, the top-ranked UConn women’s basketball team will face Creighton in a highly anticipated matchup. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Gampel Pavilion. This exciting event will be broadcast on Peacock, NBC Sports Network, and the UConn Sports Network, powered by Learfield (FOX Sports 97.9).
Game Day and Celebrations
This particular game also holds significance as UConn celebrates Black History Month. The university will honor the Black Fives, a group of African American basketball pioneers. Additionally, prior to the start of the game, there will be a performance of “Lift Every Voice & Sing.”

Player Highlights
Graduate student Azzi Fudd has recently been named the BIG EAST Player of the Week. In her last two games, she averaged 21.0 points, complemented by a shooting percentage of .516 from the field. Fudd also contributed 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game. This February, her numbers have climbed even higher, with an impressive average of 23.0 points per game and a shooting accuracy of 56.3%.
In UConn’s previous game against Butler, Fudd led the team with 17 points in an 80-48 victory. Other starters also contributed significantly with double-digit points:

Redshirt sophomore Jana El Alfy had an outstanding performance, securing 11 rebounds during the match.
The Series and Creighton’s Performance
UConn has maintained a strong history against Creighton, boasting a 13-0 record in their all-time matchups. The last encounter took place on January 11, when UConn triumphed 95-54, led by sophomore Sarah Strong who recorded 18 points, 13 rebounds, six assists, and five steals.
Creighton is entering this game on a four-game winning streak, with their most recent victory being an 80-74 win against Marquette. Ava Zediker currently leads the Bluejays, averaging 13.8 points per game. Head coach Jim Flanery is in his 24th season at Creighton, adding depth to the team’s experience.
