Former Eagles OC Stays Amid Uncertain Future
The Philadelphia Eagles have instigated significant changes within their coaching staff, affecting offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo’s position. As of now, his future with the team remains uncertain, according to a recent report from The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Key Changes in Coaching Staff
On January 13, 2026, the Eagles demoted Patullo from his offensive coordinator role. Head coach Nick Sirianni clarified that Patullo was not formally fired. Following the demotion, Sirianni suggested there might still be an opportunity for Patullo in a different capacity.
- New offensive coordinator: Sean Mannion
- Pass game coordinator: Josh Grizzard
- Tight ends coach/run game coordinator: Ryan Mahaffey
- Offensive line coach: Chris Kuper
Kuper and Mahaffey replaced notable figures, including longtime offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland and tight ends coach Jason Michael. Some coaches, such as running backs coach Jemal Singleton and wide receivers coach Aaron Moorehead, will maintain their positions. Meanwhile, the fate of quarterbacks coach Scot Loeffler remains undecided.
Offensive Performance Issues
The Eagles’ recent performance has prompted these changes. Coming off a Super Bowl LIX championship, the team experienced significant disappointment this season. They were unexpectedly eliminated at home by the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Wild Card round.
During his first season as play-caller, Patullo’s offensive strategy struggled, leading to widespread frustration among players and fans alike. The call for improvements was evident after the team’s uncharacteristic performance throughout the season.
Patullo’s Relationship with Sirianni
Despite the shakeup, Patullo maintains a close relationship with Sirianni, dating back to their time together with the Indianapolis Colts. Patullo served as the wide receiver coach under Sirianni, who was the offensive coordinator from 2018 to 2020. He followed Sirianni to the Eagles in 2021 as the pass game coordinator before assuming play-calling responsibilities in 2025.
As the Eagles prepare for the upcoming 2026 season, the organization is poised for further changes, particularly concerning Patullo’s future within the coaching staff.
