Bitter Cold Sweeps NYC and Tri-State
On Sunday morning, Central Park recorded a temperature of just 3 degrees Fahrenheit. This marked the coldest temperature since February 4, 2023. The frigid conditions are expected to persist that night and into Monday.
Temperature Trends
Most areas will experience lows in the single digits. In the northwestern suburbs, temperatures may drop below zero. Windchills, while not as severe as previous nights, will be subzero across the region.
Monday morning will bring a slight warmup. Afternoon highs are projected to reach the upper 20s to around 30 degrees. Although still cold, this increase will feel much warmer, especially with sunshine breaking through.
Throughout the week, temperatures may rise to the mid and upper 30s. By mid to late February, highs could even approach the low to mid-40s.
Snow and Precipitation Forecast
Precipitation is expected to be minimal this week. A warm front on Tuesday may bring isolated snow showers. However, most areas are likely to see little to no accumulation.
- Snowfall possible north and east of the city: up to half an inch.
- Next weekend may see a coastal storm bringing a mix of rain and snow.
This coming system will be monitored closely as some forecast models indicate it could be significant.
