Kamala Harris Revives ‘Kamala HQ’ for New Online Organizing Initiative
Kamala Harris is reinvigorating her online presence with the relaunch of ‘Kamala HQ’, an initiative aimed at modernizing political organizing. On Thursday, the former Vice President and 2024 Democratic presidential candidate announced this project on social media, focusing on the importance of sustained engagement among progressive voters.
The Revival of Kamala HQ
Kamala HQ previously gained attention for its significant following, boasting over 1 million followers on X and more than 5 million on TikTok. In a partnership with People for the American Way, this initiative is positioned as a “next generation campaigning” venture, aiming to establish a permanent online infrastructure rather than a temporary setup that fades after elections.
Goals and Vision
The central premise of Headquarters is to create an ongoing platform where citizens can stay informed and connected. According to Harris, this project seeks to address the disparity in organizing efforts between conservatives and progressives. The goal is to keep activist momentum alive beyond Election Day.
- Permanent organizing infrastructure for progressives
- Engagement with community and civic leaders
- Multimedia presence across various platforms, including Substack and YouTube
Harris’s Role and Focus
Although stepping back from active politics, Harris remains actively involved in promoting progressive ideas. She has taken a reflective tour inspired by her book, “107 Days,” emphasizing what she believes needs to happen next for the American populace.
During a recent Democratic National Committee meeting, Harris highlighted her concerns that “the American dream has become more of a myth than reality.” She expressed dissatisfaction with both political parties for failing to meet the needs of the public, affirming that many feel let down by the institutions designed to support them.
Leadership Structure
As chair emerita of Headquarters, Harris will not oversee editorial content. Instead, a team comprising her former campaign staff and associates from People for the American Way will manage content creation. Key advisers involved include:
- Kirsten Allen – Senior Adviser
- Rob Flaherty – Former Deputy Campaign Manager for Biden and Harris
- Parker Butler and Lauren Kapp – Leaders of Kamala HQ during the 2024 campaign
Harris plans to continue her book tour throughout the spring while maintaining her honorary role in this new organizational endeavor.
