Stardew Valley Update 1.7 Adds Two New Marriage Candidates
Stardew Valley, the acclaimed farming simulation game by ConcernedApe, is gearing up for a significant milestone. It will celebrate its 10th anniversary on February 26, 2026. The game was first released on the Nintendo Switch in 2017 and has since sold millions of copies, benefiting from numerous free updates.
Anticipating Update 1.7
As the anniversary approaches, the next major update, version 1.7, is on the horizon. Developer Eric Barone, known as ConcernedApe, hinted at exciting new features in a recent interview with IGN. Among these updates will be changes related to children and the addition of new marriage candidates.
New Features and Marriage Candidates
Currently, children in Stardew Valley serve a minimal purpose, primarily contributing to the Full House achievement. Barone acknowledged this limitation and revealed plans to make children “a little more interesting.” Fans may look forward to enhanced interactions with their in-game children, potentially allowing them to contribute on the farm as they age.
In a thrilling announcement, Barone confirmed that two new marriage candidates will be added in the upcoming update. This will increase the total number of eligible characters from 12 to 14, with no restrictions based on gender. The identities of these new candidates will be unveiled on the anniversary itself.
More to Expect in Update 1.7
Update 1.7 is promised to deliver additional content beyond just the marriage candidates and child interactions. Barone teased that there are various other features included that players haven’t specifically asked for, but that he believes will be appreciated. With such a variety of enhancements, excitement is building for the upcoming update.
