Key Features of the Varia RearVue 820

The Varia RearVue 820 offers remarkable visibility, allowing cyclists to be seen from up to 2 kilometers away. It features a broader field of view of 60 degrees, which is 10 degrees wider than its predecessor, the Varia RTL515.

  • Visibility: Up to 2km
  • Field of View: 60 degrees
  • Vehicle Tracking Range: Up to 175m
  • Battery Life: 10 hours on Solid mode, 24 hours on Day Flash, and 30 hours on radar-only mode

Advanced Radar Technology

This new model tracks vehicles up to 175 meters away. It detects both the size and lateral movement of approaching vehicles. Additionally, it categorizes threat levels, giving cyclists crucial information on potential dangers.

Lighting Modes and Customization

The Varia RearVue 820 comes with four running modes: Solid, Peloton, Night Flash, and Day Flash. The Day Flash mode has increased brightness, now at 100 lumens, improving visibility during daytime rides.

Cyclists can set custom light patterns through the Varia app to optimize their visibility based on specific riding conditions.

Connectivity has also been enhanced. The device pairs with both Garmin bike computers and smartwatches, providing riders with real-time alerts about vehicles behind them. Cyclists receive notifications about vehicles traveling at the same speed or those waiting to pass.

Charging and Mounting Options

Charging convenience has improved with the introduction of USB-C technology, replacing the older Micro-USB port. The Varia RearVue 820 includes a new seatpost mount for easier installation.

With a price of £259.99 / $299.99 / €299.99, the Garmin Varia RearVue 820 stands out in the market for those seeking the brightest and most efficient radar light available.
