Ontario’s Nuclear Energy Strategy
The government of Premier Doug Ford aims to enhance Ontario’s nuclear capabilities. They are focusing on meeting the province’s growing electricity demands through nuclear energy. Plans include the development of four small modular reactors at Darlington.
Additionally, Ontario is considering new nuclear facilities. The proposals include:
- A large-scale plant at Bruce Power in Tiverton, Ontario.
- A new nuclear plant near Port Hope, Ontario.
- Refurbishing units at the Pickering nuclear plant to prolong its operational life.
This concerted effort highlights Ontario’s commitment to nuclear energy as a sustainable solution for future electricity needs.
