Iconic Sydney Brewery Closing for a Rural Transformation
A well-known brewery in Sydney’s inner west is preparing for a significant transition. Wildflower Brewery and Blending, located in Marrickville, is set to close its doors on May 31, 2026, as it relocates to a rural area. This decision comes from co-owner Topher Boehm, who cites family reasons at the core of this move.
Closure Details and Future Plans
Topher Boehm announced the decision on the brewery’s website, expressing mixed emotions about the closure. He stated, “It’s with a great deal of excitement, trepidation, sadness and thanksgiving that I share we have made the decision to relocate Wildflower towards a rural setting.”
The brewery has served the Marrickville community for over a decade, earning a loyal following. Boehm noted the importance of community support during this transition, stating, “We’re overwhelmingly grateful for the community’s support over the last 10 years.”
Reasons for Relocation
According to Boehm, the decision to leave the city is aimed at alleviating some of the stresses that accompany running a business in an urban environment. He indicated a desire for the venture to become a passion project rather than a commercially driven enterprise.

Looking Ahead
While the exact future for Wildflower Brewery remains uncertain, Boehm is optimistic. He remarked, “The road ahead for the business is not crystal clear at this stage,” referring to the unknowns that come with the relocation. “It will take time and thought to reshape what the next edition of this place will be.”
Wildflower Brewery will embark on a new chapter, striving to realign its mission and goals while embracing the opportunities that a rural environment may offer. The brewery’s commitment to producing quality craft beer will continue, even as operations shift beyond the city limits.
