Municipal Services Adjustments

  • All municipal offices, including Planning & Development and Customer Service Centres, will open at 10 a.m.
  • Essential services, including 311 and winter operations, will continue to function.
  • Halifax Transit is operating with snow routes, and ferry services remain unaffected, apart from a 30-minute delay to the Alderney ferry.
  • Solid waste collection will proceed as planned, but residents are advised to place waste outside after 7 a.m.

Support for Homeless Individuals

During this harsh weather, the municipality is prioritizing support for those experiencing homelessness:

  • The After-Hours Individualized Mobile Engagement (AIM) team has engaged with homeless individuals, offering shelter options and warm supplies.
  • The Province of Nova Scotia has increased shelter capacity to ensure individuals have safe options during the storm.
  • Emergency shelters are available and will remain open throughout the storm for individuals in need.
