Meteorologist Allister Aalders explained the storm’s origins. A nor’easter developing in the Carolinas is moving northeastward towards the Maritimes. This system is responsible for the expected snow and wind combination, resulting in:

• The possibility of blizzard-like conditions.

Residents are advised to anticipate delays and cancellations on Monday. Travelers should exercise caution due to predicted poor travel conditions.

Municipality Advisories

The Halifax Regional Municipality has implemented an overnight winter parking ban effective from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. on Monday. Additionally, municipally owned recreation facilities will close at 5 p.m. on Sunday. No decisions regarding services for Monday have been made at this time.

Coastal Flooding Risks

The storm surge, in conjunction with high tides, poses a risk of elevated water levels. Environment Canada has issued a coastal flooding statement for Halifax and Yarmouth counties. Residents near the shore are urged to:
