CBF Increases Supercopa Prize, Yet Winners Earn Less Than 2025
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has announced the prize structure for the 2026 Supercopa Rei. Both Corinthians and Flamengo will receive a fixed payment of R$ 6.35 million. This amount marks an increase of R$ 300,000 compared to the previous year’s payout of R$ 6.05 million to Botafogo and Flamengo.
Details of the 2026 Supercopa Rei Prize Fund
In addition to the fixed fee, the champions of the Supercopa will receive a bonus of US$ 1 million. This translates to approximately R$ 5.22 million, allocated by Conmebol.
Comparative Earnings
Despite a higher fixed fee this year, the total earnings for the champions will still be less than what was awarded in 2025. This discrepancy arises from the stronger dollar in January of last year. Here’s a breakdown of potential earnings:
- Corinthians win: About R$ 11.57 million
- Flamengo win: Approximately R$ 12 million from 2025
Additional Financial Considerations
Should Corinthians clinch the title, they will owe R$ 4.7 million in bonuses to player Memphis Depay, as outlined in his contract. Furthermore, some of this prize money may be withheld by Caixa Econômica Federal, similar to past occurrences with the 2025 Copa do Brasil payouts and various women’s tournaments.
Potential for Increased Revenue
Corinthians have the opportunity to further enhance their earnings by participating in the Copa das Campeãs, also known as the Women’s Club World Cup. If they defeat Arsenal from England, they will secure US$ 2.3 million. The runner-up will be awarded US$ 1 million.
