High Water Forces Closure of Lewis Park and City Recreation Facilities
High water levels have led to the closure of Lewis Park and several city recreation facilities in Courtenay. The City of Courtenay has announced that the following facilities will close immediately, and all scheduled programs and activities are cancelled for Friday, January 30, 2026:
Closed Facilities
- Lewis Centre
- The LINC Youth Centre
- Tsolum Building
- Salish Building
The city has emphasized the importance of safety, urging all patrons to vacate the premises. Any individuals with children or dependents inside are encouraged to make immediate arrangements for their pickup. Furthermore, all vehicles must be removed from the parking lot to ensure safety and access.
