His experience includes six years within Santander in the United States, where he served as Chief Risk Officer and later as CEO of Santander Consumer USA from 2019 to 2023. This extensive background in financial services spans over three decades, comprising roles at well-known firms such as Citi, JPMorgan Chase & Co, and Capital One.

This leadership change comes during a challenging period for Santander, which recently announced the closure of 44 branches. As competitors like Lloyds, HSBC UK, and NatWest remain vigilant, the bank aims to strengthen its position in the UK market.
