Tobias Forge Explores an Open Future for Ghost

Ghost, the Swedish rock band known for their engaging performances and intricate lore, is approaching a new phase as their ‘Skeletour’ tour draws to a close. With the final leg of the tour taking place across North America, frontman Tobias Forge has shared insights into the band’s future direction and creative processes in a recent interview.

Tobias Forge on the Future of Ghost

In an interview with Canada’s Global News, Forge confirmed that there won’t be a covers EP released between albums, which has been common practice for the band in the past. He emphasized the band’s strict no-phone policy during live shows, maintaining an immersive experience for fans.

Uncharted Territory Ahead

As the tour wraps up, Forge revealed that there are currently no defined plans post-Skeletour. “Besides the North American leg of the Skeletour, we have nothing else planned. The future is right now very open,” he stated.

Despite the uncertainty, Forge expressed that he is not completely at a standstill creatively. He is actively recording but clarified that this project is neither a covers EP nor a new Ghost album. “I do not know exactly what and when anything will happen. And that’s a good thing,” he added.

A New Direction for Ghost

This open-ended future marks a significant shift for Forge, who noted that the band has been “going nonstop” since 2011. He explained that, for the past 15 years, each album cycle had seamlessly transitioned into the next, leaving little time for reflection or new ideas.

  • Current Tour: North American leg of the Skeletour
  • No Planned Releases: No upcoming covers EP or new album
  • Creative Process: Forge recording, but not for Ghost
  • Future Outlook: Open and undefined

Forge sees this potential downtime not as a setback, but rather as a chance to explore untapped ideas and aspirations. “I still have dreams and things that I think we have not achieved,” he stated, leaving fans hopeful for what Ghost might produce in the future.

As of now, Forge is focused on the current tour, with everything that follows remaining a “big, big, big question mark.” This unpredictability could provide a fresh perspective for the band as they contemplate their next steps.
