Champions League Knockout Playoff: Format, Dates, Schedule, and Qualified Teams
The Champions League league phase has concluded, revealing eight teams advancing to the Round of 16. These teams are Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Tottenham, Barcelona, Chelsea, Sporting, and Manchester City. However, the identities of their potential opponents remain to be determined as the knockout playoffs approach.
Champions League Knockout Playoff Format
Teams ranked ninth to 24th in the league phase will engage in head-to-head two-legged playoff matches. This will determine which eight teams move forward to the Round of 16 as unseeded participants.
Each playoff participant is aware of their path based on their league rankings. For example, Real Madrid (ninth) and Inter Milan (tenth) will face Benfica (23rd) and Bodo/Glimt (24th), respectively. The matchups continue in a similar fashion for other teams based on their rankings.

Newcastle is set to face Qarabag in their playoff. The winning team will then move on to confront either Barcelona or Chelsea in the Round of 16.
Champions League Knockout Playoff Schedule
The playoff matches will take place during the midweeks of February 17-18 and February 24-25. Following the playoff round, the draw for the Round of 16, as well as the quarter-finals and semi-finals, is scheduled for February 27.
