The model and TV personality reflected on her struggles with alcohol in a post dated January 27. After more than a year of sobriety, Teigen initially hoped to drink in a mindful manner. She wanted to participate in social occasions and share a glass of wine with her husband, John Legend.
However, she soon found herself reverting to old habits. Teigen recalled her drinking escalating from evenings to afternoons, leading to a wake-up call when she realized she was slipping back into detrimental patterns. “We aren’t talking the kind of drinking where you slur your words,” she explained. “It was just quiet and consistent.”
Support from Friends
Teigen credited her friend Carl Radke from “Summer House” for inspiring her to stop drinking again. His honesty about his sobriety journey played a crucial role in her decision to commit once more. Additionally, she expressed her determination to remain sober when offered a judgeship on the revived talent competition “Star Search.” Teigen made it clear: alcohol would not be a part of her work environment.

The difference between her current sobriety and her first attempt lies in her mindset. Teigen feels more grounded this time around. She stated, “The first time was exciting; now it feels different.” Despite the challenges, she remains resolute in her decision to stay alcohol-free.

Inspired by Holly Whitaker’s book “Quit Like a Woman: The Radical Choice to Not Drink in a Culture Obsessed with Alcohol,” she made a pledge to quit alcohol after feeling embarrassed about her behavior during drinking episodes.
