Delaware Eases Driving Restrictions Effective 10 AM

Delaware Governor Matthew Meyer has announced notable changes to driving restrictions in the state due to worsening weather conditions. Starting from 10:00 a.m. today, modifications will impact how residents can travel on the roads.

Driving Restrictions Update in Delaware

Changes to Level 2 and Level 1 Warnings

  • Kent and New Castle Counties have transitioned from a Level 2 Driving Restriction to a Level 1 Driving Warning.
  • Sussex County’s Level 1 Driving Warning has been lifted.

Motorists in Kent and New Castle Counties are advised against traveling unless necessary for health, safety, or business reasons. All drivers should exercise extreme caution.

Weather Conditions and Road Safety

As Winter Storm Fern progresses, sleet and freezing rain may lead to ice accumulation on the roads. The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) is actively clearing roadways, but risks such as black ice persist.

Temperatures are projected to remain below freezing throughout the week, with nighttime lows potentially falling to single digits. Travelers are urged to stay vigilant and informed.
