The AMS executive debate held on January 23 provided insight into the candidates’ plans for a student-centric AMS in the upcoming academic year. The event took place in the Agora of the JDUC at 6 p.m. and featured four candidates vying for key positions. Each candidate delivered opening and closing statements, as well as responded to multiple questions and audience queries.

Presidential Candidates: Dreyden George vs. Alex McArthur
Dreyden George framed his campaign around past AMS experiences and emphasized the importance of transparency in operations. He raised concerns regarding the use of artificial intelligence at Queen’s University, stressing the need for cautious implementation.
In contrast, Alex McArthur focused on enhancing student representation and involved roles to strengthen collaboration. He called for reforming orientation programs to better engage new students during their transition to university life.
