Gran Turismo 7 Releases 2026’s First Update Next Week with Three New Cars
Gran Turismo 7, the popular racing simulation game, is set to receive its first update of 2026. This news comes directly from Kazunori Yamauchi, the series creator, via a post on social media. The upcoming update is scheduled for January 29 and will introduce three new cars into the game.
New Cars in Gran Turismo 7
The three vehicles reveal includes:
- Hyundai Elantra N TCR: This model is a historic addition as it marks the first true TCR car in the Gran Turismo series. It first appeared as a teaser at the 2025 Gran Turismo World Finals in Fukuoka. The Elantra N TCR complies with TCR regulations and boasts a 350hp output.
- Xiaomi SU7 Ultra: This electric sedan makes history as the first Chinese car in Gran Turismo. With a staggering 1,525hp produced from a triple-motor setup, it accelerates from 0-60 mph in under two seconds. The SU7 Ultra also holds a lap record for production four-door vehicles at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
- Porsche 911 GT3 R: Anticipated as the second GT3-class vehicle added to the game, this representation of the 992-generation 911 will replace the older RSR model. It is expected to enhance the competitive landscape ahead of the 2026 qualifiers.
Update Details
The recent updates in Gran Turismo 7 have transitioned back to a more routine content release schedule. The last major update was the Spec III in early December 2025, following a significant five-car update in September.
The coming update might not introduce new tracks, as recent additions included two new circuits. However, players can look forward to revised races in the World Circuits that will likely incorporate the new vehicles, such as the WTC700 and WTC800 events. There may also be adjustments in Japanese road car races to include the newly added Korean and Chinese vehicles.
Additional Features and Expectations
While the primary focus is on the car updates, players can expect new engine swaps and Scapes locations. Moreover, a new collection task in an Extra Menu Book is also anticipated. More details about the update will likely be revealed in a mid-week announcement, with expectations set for January 28.
